ABOUT ABOUT

UConn Dramatic Arts alumnus Mac Cherny (‘16) returns to Storrs to present No Outlet, his play featuring coming-of-age storytelling, and nostalgic indulgence. No Outlet, presented by the Dramatic Arts Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, is an intimate retelling of the dramatic events leading up to the near-fatal car crash that changed the trajectory of Cherny’s young life.

In his autobiographical play No Outlet, Mac Cherny guides the audience through a young queer experience, examining one of the most traumatic events in his life through an empathetic and unapologetically gay lens. The play focuses on Mac's life between the ages of 16 and 19, exploring themes of mental health, queer acceptance, and domestic violence. While its primary goal is to entertain, it also aims to promote visibility, education, and resources related to these themes. Each production of No Outlet partners with organizations to further its mission of providing education and resources related to these themes. This play underscores the dangers of denying queer youth the freedom to be their truest selves. This production discusses mental health, queer acceptance, and domestic violence. Recommended for ages 15+.

Admission is free, but tickets are required. Please reserve your tickets at bimp.ticketleap.com/no-outlet/ Doors open at 5 p.m. Reservations that do not arrive by 5:20 p.m. will be released. The show runtime is 90 minutes followed by a 15-minute talkback.

This performance is co-sponsored by the UConn Women’s Center and the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry.
